John Willis Menard was the first black man to be elected to congress in 1968 before the 15th amendment was even made almost being a congressman before he had the right to vote but his seat was stolen from him because his opponent made a complaint that the votes were not counted correctly. even though his congressional seat was stolen from him he was still the first black man to speak on the congress floor.

The KKK was a white supremacy group started by a group of ex confederate soldiers to pull "Pranks" on African Americans but soon they started to become more aggressive using intimidation, terrorist raids, destruction of property and murder against African American and other abolitionists because of their belief that they are a "Superior Race". The KKK is still active today on August 12th in Charlottesville Virginia James Alex Fields Jr. a self proclaimed Neo-Nazi and white supremacist drove a car through a group of counter protestors killing 32 year old Heather Heyer and injuring 28 others.
