An article Written in the Liberator after the 13th Amendment was ratified

The fight for slavery was hard fought pitting 2 ideologies against each other, The importance of Morality not owning another human being vs The importance of Wealth that was brought by slavery. Both sides had points that were important to them like John Hammond saying "cotton is king" as the biggest cash crop in the US it controlled a large portion of the US economy which could not be produced without slavery because the difficult process of harvesting it. There were People like William Lloyd Garrison who used journalism to help fight slavery when he co-founded the Liberator on January 1st 1831 he started to gain a large following around the world by writing stories on the importance of the Abolitionist movement. After arguing on both sides for decades the Abolitionist started to make progress inching closer and closer to ending slavery more and more states were becoming free states making slaves states restless soon the slave states tried to secede from the union going to war with the free states and after 600,000 American deaths the Union won and slavery was ended by the 13th Amendment.
